COOKIE INFORMATION

Kairos Cookies
About Kairos Cookies

Homemade cookies are a tangible expression of "Christian Love" and an indication of God's concern for a group of people who seldom encounter "Love" in the course of their daily lives and your prayer over the cookies as you cook them will be the main ingredient for touching the hearts of those who receive them.

Your loving sacrifice will provide “bread” that shines the Light of God's Grace into the darkest corners of the Ferguson Unit.

May God bless your gift of baking!

Cookie Preparation

The types of cookies considered to be acceptable are: Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, Molasses, Chocolate Chip, Ginger, and Sugar. Cookies should be around 2 inches in diameter and not more than 1/2 inch thick.

Institution Restrictions:

  • No icing
  • No loose sugar topping
  • No raisins
  • No fruit
  • No candy

Key Ingredient: Prayer

Pray individually or as a family over the ingredients before and during mixing. Pray over the cookies as you drop them onto the cookie sheet and bake them. Ask God to use your cookies as a source of His love to shine on the prisoners and staff on the Kairos weekend. Pray that each cookie brings the inmate, guard, or warden who eats it closer to God. We want every person to become part of the Family of God.

Packing the Cookies

Bag the “cooled” cookies in quart-sized Zip Lock bags, a dozen to a bag. Label each bag with the cookie type inside. After labeling, freeze all the bags of cookies.

Getting the Cookies to Prison

If you are not working on the team, please deliver your cookies to a team member who can take them.

Written Agape Guidelines
Purpose: To provide written encouragement, support, and expression of God's love to residents attending the KAIROS weekend.  Written Agape (Palanca) should be written by hand and not photocopied.
Requirements: Each team member should write a letter for every candidate.  Use the same type of paper and envelopes for all 42 letters.  No imprinted messages, logos, or designs.  Do not add stickers or decorative stamps.
Salutation: If you are a KAIROS team member, the greeting may include the resident's name, e.  g.  , "Dear Brother Joe" or "Dear Joe".  If you are part of a table family, be sure to greet those at your table by name.

If you are not a KAIROS team member, the proper salutation is "Dear Brother in Christ".

Content: Your note or letter should be short and personal.  It should express God's love and encourage the recipient to explore a closer relationship with Christ.  Do not include your address.

Children's agape (artwork and/or notes) is a special blessing to residents.  All Palanca from children is received warmly.  Please include only the child's first name and age.
